October 2006

I have been rather lazy about blogging lately. It could be work, which up until this past weekend was swamped. It could be Howdyjust focusing on the pre-blessing flurry of tasks and to-do’s.

In any case – I thought I would send a note your way today to say howdy and we could not be more excited about November 11th and all of the activities that will surround that date.

Hospitality.

Yep – welcoming you into our lives, our home. Over the last month our collective brain has been bent towards welcoming all of our friends and loved ones to our huge party. This weekend we got a good chunk of house projects done, we raked the yard (in vein I am sad to report, the leaves just keep falling!), and walked around the house nearly every second thinking in some way about the celebration that is now T minus 17 days.

You know what – I know I keep saying it, but this really is fun. There have been some disappointing days along the way, for sure. People who I thought for sure would be there on the special day, who can’t be. Cutting and adding to various lists is never an easy project. But, for the most part, this has been such a joy.

The liturgy is almost finished – and as soon as it is – I can email or post it to those of you who would like a copy – for ministry or because you are a huge liturgy dork like me.

  1. By the beauty of color that is exploding in the change of the seasons in Minnesota
  2. By how much it is possible for me to love beyond where I ever thought possible
  3. I am struck by how many warm pre-blessing wishes we are receiving
  4. How much fun it is to plan for hosting all of my friends, family and loved ones
  5. How freaky busy we are, and how it’s ok
  6. The grace and love in which everyone is showering us with
  7. The amount of people who want to help in some way
  8. How beautiful our kilts are(!)
  9. By how much I am looking forward to devouring every second of the big day, not wanting a moment to go unnoticed
  10. Ireland, Ireland, Ireland.
